How Many Wristbands to Order for a School Fundraiser (With a Simple Formula)
A simple way to work out how many silicone wristbands to order for a school fundraiser, with a worked example, design tips and a timeline.

Quick answer: Don’t order one per student. Estimate how many you’ll actually sell through each sales channel, add a buffer for volunteers and late buyers, and round up. Then order at least three weeks before the sale starts, or use rush ($30) if you’re closer.
The formula
Expected sales by channel + buffer = order quantity
- List your sales channels. A table at a game, an order form sent home, a link in the school newsletter, a box at the front office.
- Estimate sales for each. Use last year’s numbers if you have them. If not, make a careful guess and write down why.
- Add a buffer. Add extra for volunteers, teachers, siblings and late buyers. A 10–20 percent buffer is a sensible starting point; adjust it for your school.
- Round up to a tidy number.
Worked example
A middle school PTA plans a two-week sale for a new playground:
- Order form sent home: 180
- Table at two basketball games: 90
- Front office box: 40
- Expected sales: 310
- Buffer (about 15%): 46
- Order: about 360
Most PrintVow products have no minimum, so you can order exactly the number you choose. Leftover bands can be used at the next event.
Note: These numbers are an example, not a prediction. Your results depend on your community and how you promote the sale.
Which wristband style to choose
- Debossed: the design is pressed in and won’t rub off. A good choice for bands people will wear for weeks. Ask about color fill when you request your quote.
- Embossed: raised letters for a bold, sporty look.
- Printed: best for detailed logos or mascots.
- Glow: fun for night games and dances.
